What to expect when approaching Yamato for your plant’s next project
At Yamato, we pride ourselves on being more than a machinery manufacturer and supplier. We work with plants to create solutions tailored to their goals, providing end-to-end excellence and after-sales support that empowers performance.
It is no surprise that companies come to us to realise their future in-plant projects. We have worked with countless manufacturers across sectors and sizes to embrace new opportunities and optimise their lines.
Our team have the experience to scope out your requirements, design and install production lines comprised of our world-class solutions, eliminate any errors and train your staff on how to use them effectively.
This guide takes you through every step Yamato follows when embarking on a new project, so you can be confident that we’ll deliver when you need us.
Initial discussion
When you first contact Yamato to discuss a project for your plant, you will speak to one of our friendly sales advisors. During this conversation, the advisor will ask you more about your aims for the project, including the products you will be working with and your objectives.
Once the advisor has listened to and understood your needs, the extent of the work becomes more apparent. At this point, it will be passed on to a project engineer to pin down the details.
Specification
Understanding your requirements, our tech team will create a more detailed specification of what the production line will compromise. There are many factors to this, including:
- The systems and equipment that will form the line
- The environment the line needs to fit into (including space available)
- Your product formats
- Your output goals
- Any barriers that need to be addressed
They might ask you further questions to secure the necessary information to perfect the specification. The engineer will visit your site to understand your site and requirements.
A concept drawing (such as a 3D drawing) will be drafted, visualising the project and showcasing the various aspects involved.
Quote
Once the specification is finalised, you will be quoted a price for the project. This price will include everything required, such as machinery (including those sourced from third party suppliers), labour and additional costs.
There may be some fluctuation in the quote if it isn’t immediately accepted, as supply costs are constantly changing. However, if this is the case, our team will inform you.
Build
Once the quote has been agreed upon, everything is put into motion. The team will source the materials needed and begin building the various parts of the line.
During this stage, we will take more measurements from your plant to ensure everything meets the specification. We also work with you to coordinate timings so that expectations are in place.
In some cases, we may already have systems built and ready to go for your project. If you require bespoke systems, we will create these and ensure the correct features are built into the design.
Testing
During the development of the machinery, we conduct checks to uncover any snags and rectify them before they reach your plant.
We also run tests using your products to ensure systems are fit for purpose. These tests allow us to spot any errors in advance and ensure that each line part is doing its intended job.
These tests also provide peace of mind that your objectives are being met and that you get the ideal output.
Delivery and installation
After the build phase is complete and every system has been tested, it’s time to deliver the components to your plant and commission your line.
Our experts will ensure every machine is correctly installed and calibrated. The installation is booked in advance, so you know exactly when to expect us and can prepare your plant for the process.
It’s also a final chance to check performance in situ, ensuring everything fits and functions correctly.
After-sales support
Once the installation has happened, your project is good to start processing. However, this doesn’t mean your partnership with Yamato has finished.
We continue to serve you with our after-sales service. Our advisors will assist if you have a query or require additional work. We also provide guides for all our machinery, enabling you to get the most from your solutions and maximise efficiency.
On the rare occasion of an issue with your line or solutions, we will also work with you to determine the cause and rectify the problem.
Training
When you have introduced a new project into your plant, it is fundamental that your staff know how to utilise machinery for optimum performance. We offer in-depth training and product demonstrations to develop your operatives’ understanding and skills.
Training can be conducted at our premises in Leeds (using our interactive training rig) or at your site for up to six people at a time. The itinerary will be tailored to your plant’s needs.
Our fully qualified instructors will teach your staff everything they need to know to operate systems correctly, with all training materials provided.
Maintenance
The key to a high-performing project is regular maintenance of your systems. It enables your production lines to work efficiently, with minimal room for error or unplanned downtime.
We offer service contracts that ensure routine upkeep of your machinery. We offer two levels of service:
- Level 1: service inspection and calibration to set up and optimise your machines
- Level 2: full service, including repairs and parts replacement as required
We assist with repairs if there is an issue with your machinery. Our expert engineers have the knowledge to deliver a long-standing and compliant repair, with a six-month warranty to give you peace of mind.
We will also support your spare parts inventory to facilitate in-house repair. Our genuine parts are fully compatible with your systems, rigorously quality-checked, and backed by a 12-month guarantee. They’re easy to install, allowing you to make swift repairs, keep disruption to a minimum and ensure that your warranties are maintained.
